Join us for this year’s FIRST ʻImi Naʻauao FREE lecture series.
January 26th, 2017 – Thursday – 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Join teacher/author Collette Leimomi Akana & daughter/collaborator Kiele Gonzalez as they present their book “HĀNAU KA UA – Hawaiian Rain Names.” Rain names are a precious legacy from our kūpuna. Kūpuna knew that when a particular rain would fall, that Rain had an effect on the land & their lives. In “Hānau ka Ua,” Leimomi reintroduces us to these cherished companions, giving new life to their names & their stories. There are songs, chants, & poems for King Kamehameha IV, Queen Emma, & Prince Albert that mention rain. Hele mai, come.
