Since 1904, the Daughters of Hawaiʻi has sought to remember the anniversary of the 1795 Battle of Nuʻuanu, the last major battle Kamehameha I fought against allied forces on Oʻahu to unite the Hawaiian island kingdoms as one, each year with a commemorative event. A pivotal moment in the history of the islands, this historic battle has few written records but is informed by a strong tradition of oral knowledge and independent scholarship, and supported by community-based commemorative activities such as this one.

Please join us as special guest Dr. Jerry Walker presents his latest research on the Battle of Nuʻuanu at Emmalani Hale. Help us to continue the Daughters’ tradition of preserving and protecting the legacy of Hawaiʻi by remembering the remarkable lives of those who came before us.

Light refreshments will be served.
