Visit the Palace

E komo mai, welcome. For over 150 years, guests have been coming to Hulihe`e' Palace.

Situated on Ali`i Drive in Kailua - Kona, Hulihe`e Palace was the vacation residence of Hawai`ian royalty. Today it is a museum operated by the Daughters of Hawai`i and is a showplace of beautiful furniture and fascinating artifacts.

We hope you can visit Hulihe`e Palace in person. But, if you can not make the journey to our island, please use this section to learn more about the Hulihe`e Palace and it's history.

Today, Hulihe`e Palace consists of six large graciously appointed rooms and two large inviting oceanfront lanai and lovely grounds. Come see for yourself - online or in person.

• Entry Hall contains a King's souvenir from a trip to California.
• Kuhio Room houses a wonderful koa table and a Queen's traveling trunk.
• Kuakini Room display's many articles from our past.
• The Lanai - King Kalakaua widened the lanai.
• Second Floor Sitting Room is furnished with typical Victorian furniture and several Royal accessories.
• Princess Ruth's Bedroom contains some of her personal furniture.
• Kawananakoa Room is filled with interesting furniture from the Kalakaua Dynasty.
• The Grounds include a historic fish pond.
• Mokuaikaua Church is directly across from the Palace.
• Ahu`ena Heiau was the site of the Capital of Hawai`I from 1812-1819.
