Learn How to Make a Lei Poʻo

Have you ever wanted to learn about the art of lei making? Join us for a hands-on, cultural lei-making class with contemporary master lei-maker, Nia Power. Nia will demonstrate and teach you how to make your very own lei poʻo on the beautiful grounds of historic Huliheʻe Palace. A lei poʻo is the traditional style of lei worn around the crown of oneʻs head. This one-hour program is co-sponsored by the Daughters of Hawaiʻi and Huliheʻe Palace, and is open to anyone interested in learning to make a lei poʻo. First-timers and those with no lei experience are encouraged to attend, while those with experience are always welcomed. Lei supplies and materials are included in the cost for the class and all participants will create their very own lei poʻo to wear and take home.

Social Distancing: Participants are required to wear a face mask covering their nose and mouth at all times. A distance of six feet must be maintained at all times between separate households. Only the instructor may move between households. Temperature checks are required at check-in with completion of a COVID-19 health form.
