Daughters of Hawaiʻi Present: Ka Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Fridays
In celebration of ka Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi or Hawaiian Language Month, we are pleased to offer free beginning Hawaiian language lessons to all members. Did you know in the 1980s ‘ōlelo Hawaiʻi was considered nearly extinct with only a handful of native speakers remaining? ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi has come a long way since then and its use continues to grow and flourish, with many families introducing ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi back into their daily lives.
Join Daughter Makalena Shibata as she leads these lessons to help us learn proper pronunciation and basic phrases, while providing us a safe space to practice and have fun! These lessons are designed for beginners and first-time speakers, but all are encouraged to attend.
