We are pleased and excited to announce the limited re-opening of the Palaces! To ensure the health and safety of visitors, volunteers, and our employees, starting on August 1, the Palaces will re-open to the public on a limited basis.
Kanoe and her team have been working tirelessly to update and refresh the museums for reopening. Under the guidance of a professional Collections team, the education coordinators, Sunshine Chip and Haylie Lopez, have been working around the clock to revamp the museum exhibits and bring you a refreshed guided tour and a new way we share the stories of the Palaces and our ali‘i. The Palaces are sparkling from floor to ceiling, with new artifacts and portraits on exhibit, the grounds received a much needed trimming and sprucing, and overall the facilities themselves had a chance to rest from the daily foot traffic.
During the month of August, the Palaces will open on Saturdays with guided tours at 10 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM and 2:30 PM. Reservations are required and tours are limited to 9 people per tour. Reservations close at 4 PM on Fridays. After safely touring the museum, visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the grounds while relaxing in the sunshine, all while observing physical distancing.
