Five minutes by car from the center of Honolulu graces what was once the summer home of Queen Emma, consort to King Kamehameha IV, one of the last ruling monarchs of the Kamehameha Hawaiian dynasty. Now a historic house museum dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of the royal family, Hānaiakamalama, known today as Queen Emma Summer Palace, is a timeless symbol of classic Hawaiian elegance and contemporary style.

Whether you’re hosting a close gathering or an event for the ages, the Summer Palace is the ideal backdrop for your special occasion. Guests will enjoy the picturesque tropical gardens and subtle architectural details found throughout, and friendly and knowledgeable staff will work with you through every detail of your important event.

Requirements to book a space

  • Complete an online facility inquiry form
  • Meet with our Rental Coordinator to discuss timing and space options
  • Sign a rental application a minimum 60 days prior to your event
  • Sign a rental contract and provide a security deposit in order to reserve a date

Queen Emma Summer Palace Spaces

Prince Albert Terrace

Treat guests to lush, garden views and the cool, mountain breeze on Prince Albert Terrace, named after King Kamehameha and Queen Emma’s only son. Host morning tea, or exchange vows among the Queen’s favorite botanicals.

Emmalani Hale

Built from lava rock and framed by large sliding glass doors, the Hale’s (Hawaiian word for house) open plan, elevated stage, and tucked away warming kitchen make it the perfect place for an intimate ceremony or most memorable reception.

Combine Emmalani Hale with Prince Albert Terrace or book one space alone.

Knowledgeable staff will assist you in reviewing preferred vendors for services such as officiants, flowers, photographers, caterers, and entertainment to meet your events needs. A security deposit is required to reserve your event. Parties of 50 or more require use of a valet service. Pricing does not include taxes.

Amenities

When you book Emmalani Hale or Prince Albert Terrace your venue package includes use of the following:
  • Sixteen (16) rectangle tables (6 ft x 2 ft)
  • Five 5 round tables (6ft in diameter)
  • 170 metal folding chairs
  • Warming kitchen, refrigerator, and coolers
  • Access to electric outlets
Booking Emmalani Hale also includes use of:
  • Projection screen, located above the stage
  • Two (2) rectangular koa tables
Complimentary admission for you and your guests to view the Summer Palace during your event is included with your booking.
General Liability Insurance is required to book and Liquor Liability Insurance if serving wine and beer at your event. Hard liquor is prohibited at on-site events.

Optional

The following may also be provided for additional fees:
  • WiFi access $50
  • White pop-up tent (10 ft x 10 ft) $75
  • White wedding arch $150

Booking Periods

Venues are rented in 9-hour time blocks.
Booking periods include time for event set-up, tear down, and clean-up.
The rental period may be extended in 2-hour increments for an additional fee.
